Diego Simeone spoke on Tuesday at a press conference previewing his side’s clash at home on Wednesday evening against Borussia Dortmund in the first leg of the Champions League Quarter-Finals.
Simeone spoke about the high-intensity style of play that the German side displays, mentioning how “Dortmund is probably the team who plays with the most intensity among those who qualified for the Quarter-Finals“.
He also highlighted how he would like to see a better performance from Antoine Griezmann after his recent struggles with injury, saying, “In the last few matches he got injured. He played against Inter and scored the equalizing goal. We didn’t start him against Barcelona and he came back against Villarreal, where he had a good first half. We need the best Griezmann“.
Atletíco Madrid head into the match with a strong home record in European knockout football, having gone unbeaten in the last 17 games in the latter stages of Europe’s premium club competition.
The Estadio Metropolitano has also been somewhat of a fortress this year in domestic competition, as Los Colchoneros have only lost two games there in all competitions this season.
