Sidelined Barcelona star to return to pitch in December

An update on the wellbeing of Barcelona star Ronald Araújo has on Wednesday come to the fore online.

Defender Araújo is of course yet to take to the pitch this season.

Owing to a hamstring injury suffered whilst lining out for Uruguay at the Copa América during the summer, the 25-year-old was forced under the knife, a procedure which took place in Finland back in July.

Araújo spent his initial recovery period back in his home country, but returned to Catalunya’s capital last month.

The hope, in turn, was that the stopper would return to the pitch at some point in November, to reinforce an under-manned central-defensive setup under new Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick.

If the latest word stemming from the media on Wednesday is anything to go by, however, then this will not prove the case.

As per a report from the reliable RAC1:

‘The forecast is that the center-back will reappear during the month of December.

‘The most optimistic forecast places his return at the beginning of the month, but it could take even more time.’
