Should Barcelona keep Ansu Fati?

Ansu Fati has been at the centre of much speculation in the last week or two. Xavi has been skeptical about Fati’s future at Barcelona, and Relevo have discussed the youngster’s situation.

Fati did not start any of the four pre-season games for Barça, but had an impact from the bench. This pre-season has highlighted the new reality for the Spaniard. He is not the same player as he was before his injuries. He has to adjust and change his game, and he has already started to do so.

The Catalan club gave Fati the infamous number 10 shirt after Lionel Messi left, and they have to remember the reason why. His potential is still sky-high, and selling him at this stage could be a source of huge regret for Barça in the future. The 21-year-old has his whole career in front of him and has displayed signs that he is getting back to something like he once was. Whilst he may not become the player that many envisaged three years ago, he can still be a player of value.

One of Fati’s points of strength was his explosiveness, which he lost. This has hindered his dribbling as well and made him a more predictable player. In pre-season however, he has played some games in the centre of the pitch, an area where he has experienced success. One thing that Fati still possesses is an eye for goal, and that is priceless.
