A member of the summer recruitment drive at Sevilla knocked back approaches from another pair of La Liga clubs.
That’s according to journalist Gonzalo Tortosa of El Chiringuito TV, who points towards César Azpilicueta as the player in question.
Defender Azpilicueta is for his part fresh off finding a new home for the 2025/26 campaign.
After departing Diego Simeone’s Atlético Madrid following the expiration of his contract terms, the 36-year-old made the call to pen terms with the aforementioned Sevilla.
The Nervionenses, though, were far from Azpi’s only option.
As confirmed by the aforementioned Gonzalo Tortosa, the one-time Chelsea standout also had offers on the table from another pair of clubs in Spain’s top-flight:
‘César Azpilicueta had offers from Villarreal, Getafe, and Sevilla FC. He chose the offer from Sevilla after more than a month of negotiations. Marcelino wanted his profile in the dressing room. Azpilicueta has prioritized having more minutes and being more important.’
