Sevilla star in the sights of Antonio Conte’s Napoli for January

Serie A champions Napoli are readying a fresh assault on the signature of a member of the defensive ranks at La Liga outfit Sevilla following the turn of the year.

That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, citing La Gazzetta dello Sport, who point towards Juanlu Sánchez as the player in question.

The versatile Juanlu was of course hotly tipped for a move to Italy this past summer.

As much came after the 22-year-old was identified as the ideal right-back addition by Napoli head coach Antonio Conte.

In the end, the Partenopei failed to reach an agreement with their Sevilla counterparts over a deal, having not been willing to meet the €20 million pric-tag on Juanlu’s head.

As alluded to above, though, if the latest word stemming from the media this weekend is anything to go by, then those behind the scenes in Naples have not yet called time on their pursuit.

This comes amid confirmation that a fresh effort to bring Juanlu to Serie A is being readied for the winter transfer window.
