Sevilla open talks for Colombian midfielder

La Liga outfit Sevilla have kicked into gear talks over a potential addition to the club’s midfield ranks.

That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, citing Zona Mixta, who point towards Nicolás Benedetti as the player in question.

The Sevilla brass are currently scouring the market for cut-price reinforcements with a view to the 2025/26 campaign.

Amid ongoing financial difficulties behind the scenes in Andalusia, the Nervionenses have already tied up deals for a pair of free agent additions, in Alfon González and Gabriel Suazo.

And next on the agenda for Antonio Cordón and his team, it is understood, is the aforementioned Nicolás Benedetti.

Benedetti, for his part, is a 28-year-old midfielder, who generally operates in a central attacking role, but is also capable of taking to the pitch from a wide berth.

The Colombian is currently plying his trade in Mexico, with Mazatlán.

With his contract terms due to expire in December, though, Sevilla are eyeing a cut-price deal for Benedetti, with contacts over the terms of a deal having already been initiated.
