La Liga outfit Sevilla have on Thursday been afforded some altogether positive news on the personnel front.
This comes amid confirmation that a leading member of the club’s defensive ranks has returned to training alongside the rest of the club’s first-team squad.
The player in question? Kike Salas.
Defender Kike was for his part forced to sit out last weekend, as Sevilla battled their way to a hard-fought victory at Rayo Vallecano.
This came owing to a fitness issue suffered in training over the days prior.
As confirmed by Mundo Deportivo, however:
‘Matías Almeyda recovered one of his mainstays in defense, youth player Kike Salas, on Thursday.’
The 23-year-old, it is understood, took full part in group training in Andalusia this morning, considered back to full fitness as a result.
Kike, in turn, is expected to return to starting duties this weekend, when Sevilla play host to a Barcelona outfit still smarting from a first defeat of the term at the hands of Paris Saint-Germain.
