Sergio Ramos’ Real Madrid return dream revealed

Former Real Madrid star Sergio Ramos was keen on linking back up with Los Blancos ahead of the season getting underway.

That’s according to José Félix Díaz of Marca, who has today provided an insight into the situation.

Ramos, for his part, of course sealed a return to his home country last summer.

After two years on the books of French giants Paris Saint-Germain, the veteran stopper put pen to paper on a season-long deal with boyhood club Sevilla.

It would appear, though, that as much came as something of a backup option for the 37-year-old.

This comes with Ramos, as alluded to above, having been ‘hopeful’ of reuniting with his former teammates at Real Madrid.

As much came on the back of the injury picked up by Éder Militão back in August.

Still a free agent, Ramos, in turn, sat by the phone, ‘waiting for a call that never came’.

‘The return of the former captain was not contemplated, nor was that of Cristiano Ronaldo during the previous summer, nor in recent weeks that of Karim Benzema,’ Marca add.

Despite as much, the Real Madrid icon will of course be afforded the opportunity to return to his former stomping grounds this weekend, as Sevilla prepare to make the daunting trip to the Santiago Bernabéu, for a showdown with Carlo Ancelotti’s table-topping Blancos.
