‘See it later’ – Real Madrid fume over Fede Valverde’s red card vs Atlético

Real Madrid head coach Álvaro Arbeloa summed up the feelings of all associated with the club after star midfielder Federico Valverde was shown a red card on Sunday.

Los Blancos are of course currently locked in action, in a derby showdown with city rivals Atlético.

And Fede Valverde has since played a leading role in proceedings in Spain’s capital, with yet another fine goal to his name.

The Uruguayan’s evening, however, was brought to a close prematurely during the 2nd-half.

After Álex Baena – a player whom Valverde has plenty of history with – attempted to dribble away from pressure in midfield, the Real Madrid standout chopped him down with a poor challenge.

On initial viewing, the assumption was that Valverde would in turn be shown a yellow card.

But referee José Luis Munuera had other ideas, producing a straight red to send the 27-year-old for an early bath.

The decision left Real Madrid’s players, staff and fans, as well as Valverde himself, nothing short of stunned.

And as alluded to above, such shock was perfectly summed up by none other than Álvaro Arbeloa moments later.

After referee Luis Munuera made his way to the sideline to speak to Los Blancos’ headmaster, Arbeloa could be heard explaining:

”You will see it later! You will see it later.”

This came as an obvious suggestion that the man in charge had gotten his decision wrong, and would realise as much upon viewing replays post-match.
