Saúl Ñíguez on Rayo Vallecano’s radar

Rayo Vallecano are interested in signing Saúl Ñíguez from Atlético Madrid, report Estadio Deportivo.

The Spanish international has been struggling for minutes at Los Colchoneros for the last couple of years and he has never been able to fully establish himself as a key regular starter at the club.

Ñíguez spent last season on loan at Chelsea, but he failed to make an impact in the Premier League. Atlético Madrid are in the process of reorganising their squad following their elimination from all European competitions in the autumn and the Spaniard could be heading towards the exit doors.

The 28-year-old may only be relocating in Madrid as reportedly Rayo Vallecano are interested in securing his services this January.

While both clubs would be keen to arrive at an agreement, Los Franjirrojos may struggle to meet Ñíguez’s salary demands.

The Estadio de Vallecas would not be unfamiliar territory for Ñíguez, having spent the 2013-14 season on loan at Rayo Vallecano.
