Ronald Koeman: “We can be proud of the team.”

Speaking after Barcelona were knocked out of the Champions League, head coach Ronald Koeman said he was proud of his team’s performance, despite losing 5-2 on aggregate.

The team’s attitude was so good tonight. Going in 2-1 up at halftime would’ve really changed the game. We created far more chances than they did.

The missed penalty was a key moment. We’re feeling down after being knocked out.

We created quite a bit. They defended more in the second half and we created less in the second than we did in the first half. I’m happy with the attitude over the 90 minutes. We kept going until the very last minute. Everyone can be proud of the team, including our new president.”
