Robert Lewandowski: “I will play for Barça next season”

An update on the future of Barcelona star Robert Lewandowski has been provided in light of recent reports linking him with a move away from the club.

Lewandowski has put an end to murmurs about him leaving the club and has reiterated his desire to continue at Barca for the 2024/25 season. The Polish international is now 35-years-old, which has led to speculation about the Blaugrana looking for a younger forward to replace him.

The club’s delicate financial situation means that they need to offload first-team players to further reduce the wage bill. The striker is one of the highest earners at the club and therefore this raised doubts about him continuing at the Spanish giants next season.

Lewandowski will also have another salary rise, as in his contract with the club there is a clause which stipulates that his wage will progressively increase over the duration of his deal. In an interview with Mundo Deportivo, the striker revealed that he feels he is still at the peak of his career, and is in good shape to lead the line for Barca next season.

He said: “For me it’s very clear, no doubts. I will play for Barça next season, I’m staying.

“My age? I feel good, no different to three or four years ago — I am ready for a big season.

“I want to win more titles with Barca.”
