Robert Lewandowski equals Barcelona legend Luis Enrique in Blaugrana record books

Barcelona star Robert Lewandowski has on Sunday continued to climb the club’s all-time goalscoring charts.

This comes owing to his efforts in the Blaugrana’s meeting with Real Sociedad.

Barcelona are of course currently locked in action on the La Liga front.

Eyeing ownership of the top spot in the Spanish top-flight table, Hansi Flick’s troops have welcomed Real Sociedad to Catalunya’s capital.

And as things stand, it is the aforementioned Lewandowski who stands as match-winner.

After Real Sociedad took a surprise first-half lead at Montjuïc, Jules Koundé levelled things up courtesy of a fine header late in the first-half.

Then, it was the turn of Lewandowski to complete the comeback.

Picked out courtesy of some trademark brilliance on the part of Lamine Yamal, Barca’s veteran frontman made no mistake in nodding home a header of his own off the inside of the post.

And as alluded to above, in the process, Lewandowski secured for himself some Blaugrana history.

As revealed by statistician Fran Martínez:

‘Robert Lewandowski has equalled Luis Enrique’s record of 73 goals for Barcelona in La Liga. He is now the 16th-highest goalscorer in Barcelona’s history.’
