Robert Lewandowski broke a Lionel Messi-held Barcelona record in Napoli draw

Barcelona star Robert Lewandowski secured for himself a special place in the club’s storied history books late on Wednesday night.

As much came during Barca’s showdown with Serie A champions Napoli.

Xavi and co. of course made the trip to Italy this week, for the first leg of the club’s Champions League Last-16 tie with struggling Napoli.

When all was said and done, the two sides could not be separated across 90 minutes, en route to a 1-1 draw.

This came after the aforementioned Robert Lewandowski’s opener on the hour mark was cancelled out late on by Victor Osimhen.

And, as alluded to above, though his latest strike didn’t prove enough to seal what would have come as an important victory for Barcelona, it did see the former etch his name into the history books back in Catalunya.

As revealed by statisticians Opta, on Wednesday, Lewandowski replaced Blaugrana icon Lionel Messi as the club’s oldest-ever goalscorer in a Champions League knockout fixture:
