Revealed: What Kubo’s Real Sociedad renewal means for Real Madrid clause

An insight into the effect of Takefusa Kubo putting pen to paper on a new contract with Real Sociedad on the situation of former club Real Madrid has this evening been provided.

The info comes courtesy of Relevo, whose update on the situation will no doubt go down a treat amongst those of a Blancos persuasion.

Winger Kubo, for his part, extended his terms at Anoeta all the way through the summer of 2029 last week.

As much came with the Japanese international continuing to play a starring role for Imanol’s troops, fresh off his 7th goal of the La Liga campaign at the weekend.

And yet, Sociedad are not the only club in Spain’s top-flight long keeping a close eye on Kubo’s development.

The other? Real Madrid.

Los Merengues finally parted with the club’s talented young attacker on a permanent basis back in the summer of 2022, when the board at Anoeta agreed to cough up the required sum for 50% of his playing rights.

What, though, does Kubo’s renewal mean for the agreed-upon clauses in the deal between the La Liga rivals?

As per the aforementioned Relevo, Real Madrid have maintained their right to a 50% cut of any future sale of the one-time FC Tokyo starlet.

With Kubo’s contract containing a €60 million release clause, Florentino Pérez and co. would therefore be in line for a handsome payday in the case of their counterparts at Real Sociedad ultimately opting to move the wide-man on.

As much comes amid alleged ongoing interest in Kubo on the part of Premier League giants Liverpool.

It is also important to note, though, that Real Madrid’s clause also means that the capital club could themselves bring their former attacker back, for just €30 million.

And the possibility of precisely that remains a topic of ongoing discussion at the Santiago Bernabéu.
