Release clause & contract length confirmed as Barcelona tie down Pau Cubarsí

La Liga giants Barcelona have on Thursday confirmed the contract renewal of one of the club’s most prized assets.

The player in question? Pau Cubarsí.

Recent days had of course seen chatter mount in the media that negotiations over a new deal for stopper Cubarsí were in full swing between the Barcelona brass, and the player’s agent.

As much comes amid the 17-year-old’s remarkable explosion onto the first-team scene in Catalunya’s capital.

Cubarsí, already a key member of boss Xavi’s first-choice XI, is widely considered to be one of European football’s next great defenders.

All associated with Barcelona will therefore no doubt be overjoyed to hear of confirmation that the Spanish international will be going nowhere any time soon.

As per an official statement across the website and social media platforms of the Blaugrana, Cubarsí has put pen to paper on a new contract.

The deal runs through the summer of 2027, and includes a new €500 million release clause.

‘FC Barcelona and Pau Cubarsí have reached an agreement to extend the centre back’s contract with the club through to 30 June 2027. The player’s buyout clause has been set at 500 million euros.’
