La Liga outfit Real Sociedad look set to be without the services of a member of the club’s midfield ranks for a number of weeks to come.
This comes amid confirmation that summer signing Yangel Herrera has suffered a fresh fitness setback.
Yangel’s start to life in San Sebastian has proven to be a turbulent one, with muscular problems having restricted the Venezuelan to just two appearances in Sociedad colours.
After a recent spell on the treatment table with a soleus injury, he was widely expected to return to the pitch against Osasuna this weekend.
As confirmed in a statement released by La Real on Wednesday, however, Yangel has suffered a setback:
‘Tests carried out yesterday on Yangel Herrera by Real Sociedad’s medical staff confirm a recurrence of the muscle injury in his right soleus. His availability will depend on his recovery.’
And as per an ensuing report on the part of Mundo Deportivo:
‘It is most likely that the Real Sociedad player will not be able to play again until after Christmas.’
