The powers that be at Real Sociedad are closing on a fresh addition to the club’s defensive ranks.
That’s according to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, who has on Monday provided an insight into developments behind the scenes at the Estadio Anoeta.
Sociedad, it is understood, are on the verge of sealing a deal for Atlético Madrid star Javi Galán.
29-year-old Galán, for his part, has found game-time tough to come by under the watch of Diego Simeone across the season to date.
In fact, all told, the Spaniard has been afforded just a solitary start, alongside seven appearances off the bench.
Recent speculation pointing towards the left-back – who is also capable of lining out on the wing – inching towards an Atléti exit has in turn come as little surprise.
And, as alluded to above, Real Sociedad look set to be the beneficiaries.
This comes with Galán all set to take his talents to San Sebastián on loan for the remainder of the campaign.
The deal, as of yet, does not include an option to buy.
