La Liga outfit Real Sociedad have on Saturday confirmed the extent of the injury suffered by Yangel Herrera.
Midfielder Yangel for his part featured from the off on Friday evening, as La Real locked horns with Sevilla in a league clash.
This marked just his 2nd start in the colours of his new club, following a spell on the sidelines through injury after the Venezuelan’s summer arrival from Girona.
Just 33 minutes into proceedings at Anoeta, however, disaster struck for Yangel once more.
After pulling up suddenly, the 27-year-old made clear that he was in no condition to continue, replaced by Carlos Soler as a result.
Yangel was in turn put through a round of medical tests this morning, the results of which have since been released across Real Sociedad’s social media platforms:
‘Yangel Herrera withdrew from last night’s match against Sevilla FC due to discomfort in the soleus muscle of his right leg. Tests conducted today by Real Sociedad’s Medical Services confirmed a muscle injury. His progress will determine his availability.’
It proved to be an otherwise positive evening’s work for Sociedad on Friday, as a double on the part of Mikel Oyarzabal was enough to put Sevilla to the sword by two goals to one.
