Real Madrid youngster Víctor Valdepeñas has taken his place centre stage in the headlines in Spain’s capital on Sunday evening.
This comes after the 19-year-old was named in Los Blancos’ starting XI to face Deportivo Alavés.
This means that the talented young defender will shortly make his first-team bow in the colours of Real Madrid, on the left-hand side of Xabi Alonso’s backline.
And likely to be keeping a close eye on the performance put forth by Valdepeñas over the 90 minutes will be several leading clubs from across the continent.
As per a report from journalist Javier Rodríguez Pascual:
‘A source tells ESPN that Arsenal are closely monitoring Valdepeñas, as are several Bundesliga clubs, including Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen.’
Crucially, though, it is also noted that ‘the player’s desire is to continue his career at Real Madrid’.
The brass at the Santiago Bernabéu, meanwhile, have no intention of parting ways with a player widely considered to be a potential future star in the making.
