Real Madrid youngster to be rewarded for pre-season form with new contract

An up-and-coming member of the defensive ranks at La Liga giants Real Madrid will soon be rewarded, by way of fresh contract terms.

That’s according to Marca, who point towards Joan Martínez as the player in question.

The name of youngster Joan has of course taken its place front and centre in the chatter surrounding Real Madrid over the course of recent weeks.

This comes after the Spaniard, at just 16 years of age, burst onto the first-team picture.

Amid the dearth of options at the disposal of Carlo Ancelotti at centre-half at present, Joan was afforded a call-up for Los Blancos’ pre-season tour of the USA.

And this is an opportunity which he wasted little time in taking advantage of, shining in both training and across a pair of substitute appearances against AC Milan and Barcelona.

Now widely considered to be a star in the making behind the scenes in Spain’s capital, it should in turn come as little surprise to hear of plans being put in place to recognise Joan’s growing importance.

As per Marca, as much will be two-fold, with the Spaniard, first, in line for a new-and-improved contract.

Not only that, but his progression at youth level will be fast-tracked, with Joan expected to be a regular contributor in senior training sessions with Carlo Ancelotti’s squad over the course of the coming season.
