Real Madrid youngster responds to Lamine Yamal comparisons

Real Madrid summer signing Franco Mastantuono has this week responded to chatter surrounding the talents of he and Barcelona counterpart Lamine Yamal.

Youngster Mastantuono is for his part of course in the midst of what has been an impressive start to life in Spain.

Despite his tender years, the 18-year-old has already emerged as a leading figure in manager Xabi Alonso’s first-choice XI.

Mastantuono has been chiefly utilised on the right wing, a position allowing the Argentine to showcase his spectacular control and dribbling abilities.

With such talent at one of Spanish football’s two biggest clubs, though, comes inevitable comparisons with the aforementioned Lamine, long dazzling in the same position in Barcelona.

Speaking during an interview with DSports whilst on international duty this week, the subject of as much was in turn put to Mastantuono himself.

And the versatile attacker made use of the opportunity to play the topic down, explaining:

“These comparisons always exist in football. The newspapers make these headlines, and they don’t bother me because I don’t compare myself with anyone. He’s a great player, but I’m focused on doing my thing.”
