La Liga giants Real Madrid were afforded the chance to sign a pair of high-profile left-backs during the summer transfer window.
That’s according to Marca, who have on Thursday provided an insight into recent ongoings in Spain’s capital.
Real Madrid of course added to their options on the left of the club’s backline by way of the addition of Álvaro Carreras heading into the new campaign.
And the signing has since proven to be an inspired one, with Carreras dazzling with his early performances in the colours of Los Blancos.
As alluded to above, though, the 22-year-old was far from the only option on the table for Florentino Pérez and co.
As revealed by Marca, Real Madrid were also offered up the services of both Theo Hernández (then of AC Milan) and Bayer Leverkusen’s Alejandro Grimaldo.
In the end, however, the Santiago Bernabéu brass made clear to the entourage of both players that they were considering only one left-back: Carreras.
