The brass at La Liga giants Real Madrid have had their attentions piqued by the latest word stemming from the English media on Friday.
This comes amid the understanding that Newcastle United have set their sights on a deal for Osasuna’s Víctor Muñoz.
Youngster Muñoz departed Real Madrid last summer, linking up with La Liga rivals Osasuna on a permanent basis. As part of the terms of the transfer, though, Los Blancos retained 50% of his playing rights, as well as a buyback clause.
News of Newcastle’s interest in bringing the Spanish international to the Premier League has therefore turned the heads of Florentino Pérez and co.
The Magpies, it is claimed by The Telegraph, have earmarked Muñoz as a potential replacement for Anthony Gordon, who recently penned terms with Barcelona.
And as per a report from Diario AS:
‘Real Madrid have not yet made their final decision regarding the future of their academy graduate.’ It is also noted, though, that Los Blancos ‘are not currently considering exercising their buy-back option for the Catalan forward.’
A saga to keep an eye on as the summer transfer window develops…
