Real Madrid want next signing sealed in time to play at Club World Cup

La Liga giants Real Madrid are hopeful of tying up a deal for their next leading transfer target in time for him to feature at the Club World Cup.

That’s according to transfer insider Patrick Berger, who points towards Franco Mastantuono as the player in question.

The name of youngster Mastantuono has of course reemerged as an altogether prominent one in the headlines in Spain’s capital over the last 24 hours.

This comes after widespread confirmation was forthcoming that the capital club have repositioned themselves at the front of the queue for the River Plate sensation.

After it appeared as though they had given up on the 17-year-old’s signing, the emergence of Paris Saint-Germain in the race for Mastantuono catapulted Real back into action.

So much so that, if the latest word stemming from the media on Wednesday is anything to go by, Florentino Pérez and co. are now actively working to close a deal with River Plate.

As per a report from the aforementioned Patrick Berger of Sky:

‘Real Madrid are now in pole position to sign Franco Mastantuono. Juni Calafat is in Buenos Aires to negotiate with the player and with River Plate. Personal terms won’t be an issue; Mastantuono wants to join Real. Everyone at Real confident of closing the deal soon – José Ángel Sánchez wants to secure him in time for the Club World Cup.’
