Real Madrid to focus ‘all efforts’ on signing players in two positions next summer

The brass at La Liga giants Real Madrid have made the decision to seek out reinforcements in a pair of positions with a view to next season.

That’s according to Diario AS, who have on Thursday provided an insight into the latest developments behind the scenes in Spain’s capital.

First on the agenda when it comes to the priorities of Los Blancos is securing fresh blood at right-back.

Amid the long-term injury absence of Dani Carvajal, and with Lucas Vázquez continuing to struggle on the defensive side of the ball, additions are being actively sought out on the right of Carlo Ancelotti’s backline.

Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold is the current frontrunner to arrive.

From here, attentions will pivot towards signings in midfield, specifically a deep-lying midfielder.

As per AS, a long-term replacement for Toni Kroos is still being searched for, albeit with no clear first-choice option having yet emerged.

Amongst those being watched closely are the likes of Martín Zubimendi and Vitinha.

All of this taken into consideration, the plan at the Santiago Bernabéu does not currently involve the arrival of a new central defender, despite Real’s long-term problems in the position.
