Real Madrid tipped to launch surprise move for Chelsea starlet

La Liga giants Real Madrid are expressing a keen interest in an up-and-coming member of the defensive ranks at Chelsea.

That’s according to Miguel Delaney of The Independent, who points towards Josh Acheampong as the player in question.

Acheampong, for his part, is an 18-year-old right-back, who has long been tipped as a star in the making behind the scenes at the aforementioned Chelsea.

Fierce competition in front of him, coupled with the efforts of the Stamford Bridge brass to take advantage of Profit and Sustainability Rules, however, mean that the England youth international could yet be moved on, for the right price.

And front and centre amongst the clubs eager to take advantage come Spanish champions Real Madrid.

As per Miguel Delaney, Los Blancos have joined Paris Saint-Germain as ‘leading the way in pursuing Acheampong’.

The powers that be at the Santiago Bernabéu are known to be on the lookout for future reinforcements at right-back, with Dani Carvajal and Lucas Vázquez now both on the wrong side of 30.

And Acheampong, it would appear, is one option being taken into consideration, with the stopper, who can also line out at centre-half, thought to be available for a fee in the region of €15 million.
