Real Madrid summer signing Franco Mastantuono has revealed that new manager Xabi Alonso played an important role in his decision to make the move to Spain’s capital.
Youngster Mastantuono is for his part of course fresh off being unveiled as a Blancos player.
After being snapped up from River Plate in a big-money transfer earlier in the summer, the 18-year-old, on Thursday, was presented in front of the media in Real Madrid colours.
Mastantuono, in turn, has since been drawn on a whole host of topics, surrounding the process which culminated in his move to Spain’s capital coming to fruition.
One such question put to the midfielder surrounded the influence of Xabi Alonso on the transfer.
And Mastantuono, in quotes relaid by Diario AS, was not shy in admitting:
“I had already spoken to Xabi, he called me, it was very important for me that he showed that confidence. It was private, but his call gave me a lot of confidence, it meant a lot.”
