Real Madrid star’s plaque vandalised by Atlético fans

A leading member of the first-team ranks at La Liga giants Real Madrid has on Saturday seen his personal plaque at the Metropolitano Stadium vandalised for the latest occasion.

This, of course, comes ahead of the fast-approaching Madrid Derby.

Table-topping Real Madrid are primed to lock horns with city rivals Atlético in a La Liga clash in short order.

The matchup will see a whole host of rivalries restored, albeit with a fresh twist following Xabi Alonso’s summer arrival at the Santiago Bernabéu.

One such rivalry comes in the form of that between the aforementioned Thibaut Courtois, and the Atlético faithful.

The shot-stopper spent three years plying his trade in Rojiblancos early in his career, therefore considered something of a traitor for his decision to join Real Madrid.

And as alluded to above, on Saturday, the Atléti faithful made clear their feelings with Courtois for the latest occasion.

This came by way of the vandalisation of the plaque afforded to the Belgian by his former employers, outside the Metropolitano:
