Real Madrid star Thibaut Courtois’ oft-discussed plaque outside the home ground of Atlético Madrid could be removed before long.
That’s according to Blancos insider Guillermo Rai, who has on Saturday provided an insight into the situation.
Courtois of course took his place front and centre in the headlines in Spain’s capital earlier this evening.
As much came after the Belgian came under heavy fire for the level of his performance en route to Real Madrid being put to the sword by five goals to two in the derby.
Even prior to kick-off at the Metropolitano, though, Courtois was already in the spotlight.
This came after the shot-stopper’s plaque outside Atlético’s stadium was vandalised for the latest occasion.
Similiar instances are forthcoming on every occasion Real Madrid visit the ground.
And as alluded to above, such developments could well culminate in the plaque being removed in the near future.
As per a report from Guillermo Rai of The Athletic:
‘Atlético de Madrid seriously considering changing the system for selecting former players for its legends walkway following a meeting of the club’s Social Committee. It would be decided by a vote of the fans, and Thibaut Courtois’ plaque could be permanently removed after numerous incidents.’
