Real Madrid star’s future ‘remains open’ despite starring Club World Cup performances

The future of Real Madrid star Gonzalo García beyond the summer remains unclear, according to Diario AS.

This comes despite his breakout performances for Los Blancos over the last couple of weeks.

Frontman Gonzalo has of course enjoyed something of a coming of age at the Club World Cup to date.

Thrust into a prominent role owing to the absence of the unwell Kylian Mbappé, the youngster responded in hugely impressive fashion.

After netting Real Madrid’s only goal against Al-Hilal, the 21-year-old laid on an assist in a 3-1 victory over Pachuca, too.

And Gonzalo was back at it again in the early hours of Friday, in finding the net once more against RB Salzburg.

And yet, as alluded to above, if the latest word stemming from the media this weekend is anything to go by, the attacker remains far from assured of his place in Xabi Alonso’s squad for the 2025/26 campaign.

As per a report from AS, whilst Alonso is a keen admirer of Gonzalo’s talents, owing chiefly to the stiff competition for places in the Spanish capital, ‘his future remains open’.

A whole host of clubs from across the Spanish football landscape are understood to hold an interest in the starlet, ready to swoop should he be made available for transfer.
