A young member of the defensive ranks at Real Madrid has on Wednesday forwarded a message of support to Barcelona counterpart Marc Bernal.
This, of course, comes after Bernal was dealt an absolute hammer blow on the fitness front.
Forced into a late departure from Barcelona’s La Liga meeting with Rayo Vallecano on Tuesday night, fears quickly spread that Bernal had suffered a serious injury.
And, this afternoon, precisely as much was confirmed.
In a statement across the club’s website and social media platforms, Barcelona announced:
‘Tests carried out on Wednesday have shown that the player Marc Bernal has a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee and an associated injury to the lateral meniscus.’
Messages of support, in turn, have since come flooding in for Bernal, who had made clear over the early weeks of the campaign just what a special talent he is.
And, as alluded to above, a short time ago, such messages were added to by a member of the youth ranks at Barcelona’s biggest rivals.
After himself recently seeing his rapid progress stopped in its tracks by an ACL tear, Real Madrid prodigy Joan Martínez took to his Instagram account, to accompany a photo of he and Bernal with the caption:
‘Cheer up, it’s just a small hurdle in our path’
