Real Madrid saw a member of the club’s first-team ranks shown a straight red card amidst the chaos in their meeting with Barcelona on Sunday.
That’s according to COPE, who point to Andriy Lunin as the player in question.
Lunin was for his part as expected on the bench for the season’s first El Clásico, as Thibaut Courtois continued between the posts for Real Madrid.
During one of several late-game exchanges between the two squads, however, the Ukrainian was a central protagonist.
Lunin was spotted emerging from the dugout in angry fashion, before shouting and gesturing towards those in the Barcelona technical area.
And as alluded to above, such actions have since earned the goalkeeper a sanction.
As per COPE, Lunin was shown a red card for the offence of ‘leaving the bench and heading for the opposing bench in an aggressive manner.’
The 26-year-old is therefore set for an incoming La Liga suspension.
