La Liga giants Real Madrid expect to be without captain and defensive stalwart Dani Carvajal for the best part of the next two months.
That’s according to manager Xabi Alonso, who on Friday provided an update on the wellbeing of the Spanish international.
Right-back Carvajal was of course condemned to a fresh spell on the sidelines earlier this week.
After marking his return to the pitch in Real Madrid’s 2-1 victory over arch rivals Barcelona last weekend, an ensuing round of medical tests revealed another fitness setback.
Owing to a knee injury, Carvajal was in turn forced under the knife.
Speaking to the media in his latest pre-match press conference on Friday, the subject of his defensive star’s impending absence was therefore put to the aforementioned Xabi Alonso.
And Real Madrid’s headmaster went on to confirm:
“Dani Carvajal will be out for 7/8 weeks. We’ll wait for him”.
