Real Madrid star still absent from training

A headline member of the defensive ranks at La Liga giants Real Madrid is yet to mark his return to training alongside the rest of the club’s squad.

The player in question? Ferland Mendy.

Stopper Mendy, for his part, played no part over the weekend, as Real Madrid got the better of arch rivals Barcelona to all but confirm their status as La Liga champions.

As much came with the Frenchman having been suffering with a case of muscular overload.

The hope was that his absence would prove a short-lived one, with Mendy in line to link back up with Carlo Ancelotti’s squad in training by now.

This, however, has not proven to be the case.

As confirmed by Melchor Ruiz of COPE, Real’s first-choice left-back was put through an individualised indoor session on Wednesday.

It is currently unclear if he will be available to face Real Sociedad on Friday, though it is assured that Mendy will be back in plenty of time to feature against Bayern Munich in the first leg of Los Blancos’ Champions League semi-final tie early next week.
