Real Madrid star set a 10-season Champions League record in win over Juventus

A head-turning statistic, highlighting the excellence of Real Madrid star Álvaro Carreras in the club’s latest outing, has come to the fore online.

Real Madrid were of course back in action on the continent on Wednesday.

Fresh off a hard-fought La Liga victory over Getafe, Los Blancos turned focus back towards matters in the Champions League, in a meeting with Serie A heavyweights Juventus.

The aforementioned Carreras for his part featured from the off in the fixture.

And to say that the summer arrival in Spain’s capital went on to impress would be something of an understatement.

En route to another 1-0 triumph for the hosts, Carreras proved a rock on the defensive side of the ball, and a constant outlet when Real were in possession.

And as alluded to above, such exploits have since given rise to nothing short of a remarkable statistic…

As revealed by statisticians Squawka:

‘No defender has contested more duels in a Champions League game across the last 10 seasons and won 100% of them than Álvaro Carreras vs. Juventus (11/11). He also won 4/4 tackles, committed 0 fouls and wasn’t dribbled past once.’
