Real Madrid star secures Man of the Match award after scoring first goal of AFCON

A member of the attacking ranks at La Liga giants Real Madrid secured for himself the Man of the Match award for his performance in the opening fixture of the Africa Cup of Nations.

The Blancos star in question? Brahim Díaz.

Attacker Brahim was for his part in from the off on Sunday, as Morocco got their AFCON campaign up and running in a meeting with Comoros.

When all was said and done, the Atlas Lions secured an opening day victory, downing Comoros by two goals to nil.

And though it was Ayoub El Kaabi who stole the headlines courtesy of an early Goal of the Tournament contender, Brahim proved himself the star of the show.

The former AC Milan was responsible for netting the game’s first goal early in the 2nd-half, the highlight of a fine all-round performance.

Following the full-time whistle, Brahim therefore saw his exploits aptly rewarded by way of the Man of the Match prize:
