La Liga giants Real Madrid have today been dealt a blow amid their ongoing preparations to face Osasuna this weekend.
This comes amid confirmation that a noteworthy absentee from Carlo Ancelotti’s ranks on Thursday has not yet linked back up with the rest of his teammates 24 hours on.
The player in question? Dani Ceballos.
Midfielder Ceballos was an unexpected omission from group training at Valdebebas yesterday morning, owing to what was later revealed to be a muscular overload.
The hope was that a day of rest may have afforded the former Arsenal man requisite time to recover, ahead of taking his place in Ancelotti’s matchday squad to face Osasuna on Saturday afternoon.
Ceballos, for his part, saw his contributions widely hailed last weekend, after laying on the struggling Arda Güler’s first goal in Real colours courtesy of a fine assist.
But the Spanish international taking to the pitch for the 2nd week in succession is beginning to look increasingly unlikely, with Ceballos – as confirmed by the reliable Mario Cortegana – yet to be given the medical green light to return to training.
