This comes after the Uruguayan conjured up a display for the ages.
Real Madrid were of course back in action a short time ago, welcoming Pep Guardiola’s Man City to Spain’s capital for a Champions League showdown.
The aforementioned Fede Valverde was afforded a starting berth for the evening, in an injury-hit hosts XI.
And en route to an eventual 3-0 triumph, the midfielder proved himself the absolute, undisputed star of the show.
Incredibly, Valverde was responsible for all three of Real Madrid’s goals, through a range of brilliant finishes.
On top of his decisiveness in the final third, the 27-year-old was also close to flawless in all other aspects of the game, defending stoutly, holding possession with class and control, and playing a true captain’s role across the 90 minutes.
