A member of the summer recruitment drive at La Liga giants Real Madrid has confirmed that he fulfilled something of a personal ‘dream’ whilst on international duty this week.
As much came in the form of taking to the pitch alongside fellow countryman and Barcelona legend Lionel Messi.
Argentina locked horns with Venezuela in a World Cup qualifier on Thursday night, ultimately emerging on the right side of a 3-0 result.
And it was captain and talisman Messi who proved himself the star of the show, notching a brace on what could prove to be his last-ever home outing for the Albiceleste.
Joining the eight-time Ballon d’Or winner in Argentina’s XI on the evening was the aforementioned Franco Mastantuono, rewarded for what has been an impressive start to life in the colours of Real Madrid.
And as alluded to above, post-match, the 18-year-old could not help but speak out on his pride with this achievement:
“Playing with Messi was the dream of my life. Today being able to play with him here, on River’s field, is something incredible. As I’ve always said, he’s been my idol since I was a kid.”
