With a 3-0 home win against English Champions Manchester City, which saw Real Madrid progress through to the Champions League last 16 with an aggregate score of 6-2, Los Blancos gave the standout performance of the week in Europe.
With this impressive performance comes the news that one member of Carlo Ancelotti’s squad was given the UEFA Player of the Week award.
It was of course hat-trick hero Kylian Mbappé, whose three goals against Man City saw the Spanish side go through comfortably.
The Frenchman beat out Benfica’s Orkun Kökcü, PSV’s Noa Lang and PSG’s Vitinha to the award, and it would be difficult for anyone to say he didn’t deserve it.
Mbappé has well and truly settled in at Real Madrid, and his 28 goals so far this season are testament to that, it is likely this won’t be the last individual accolade he picks up this campaign.
Real Madrid will be hopeful of keeping their talismanic striker fit for the rest of the season, to give them the best chance of picking up European silverware this may in Munich.
