A leading member of the attacking ranks at La Liga giants Real Madrid requested his representatives to seek out transfer opportunities for him earlier this summer.
That’s according to The Athletic, who point towards Rodrygo as the player in question.
Frontman Rodrygo has of course seen his name take its place front and centre in the transfer chatter surrounding Real Madrid across the summer to date.
This comes after reports that the Blancos brass were open to a potential sale of the Brazilian were followed by links with a whole host of leading clubs from across the continent.
With just a week remaining in the transfer window, Rodrygo remains a Real Madrid player.
But if the latest word stemming from the media early this week is anything to go by, then it would appear that seeking out a parting of ways with the capital club was strongly considered by the 24-year-old himself, too.
As per a report from The Athletic:
‘Rodrygo instructed agents Pini Zahavi and Kia Joorabchian to explore a new destination for him this summer, despite his camp insisting he wants to stay at Madrid. Such a move suggests that the possibility of an exit has at least been strongly considered, but clubs that expressed interest were left with the impression that Rodrygo was not fully convinced about leaving the Spanish capital.’
