Real Madrid youngster Gonzalo García is in active talks regarding a potential summer departure from the club.
This comes amid the understanding that Premier League outfit Fulham, under the advice of new manager Álvaro Arbeloa, are pushing hard for the frontman’s signature.
Gonzalo played something of a bit-part role at the Bernabéu in 2025/26, managing just 15 starts across all competitions. The frontman nevertheless managed to find the net a respectable eight times, though.
These exploits evidently did not go at all unappreciated on the part of his former head coach, with the aforementioned Álvaro Arbeloa having been tipped for a reunion with Gonzalo at Fulham throughout the summer to date.
And as alluded to above, this week, this potential joining of forces has moved a step closer. As per a report from Real Madrid insider Mario Cortegana of The Athletic:
‘Fulham are in talks to sign striker Gonzalo Garcia from Real Madrid.
‘The potential move would see the 22-year-old follow new Fulham head coach Alvaro Arbeloa, regarded as his football mentor and actively involved in discussions, from Madrid to west London.’
It is also noted that, though José Mourinho is a fan of Gonzalo’s talents, the Portuguese cannot guarantee him consistent starting minutes for next season. The final decision on his future will therefore be left up to the player himself.
