Real Madrid star: ‘I didn’t deserve Man of the Match award’ for World Cup performance

Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham has revealed his take that he was not deserving of the Man of the Match prize afforded to him on the international stage on Tuesday.

This comes after the midfielder was named MVP of England’s meeting with Ghana.

Thomas Tuchel’s troops were of course back in action yesterday evening, locking horns with Ghana in the group stages of the World Cup.

When all was said and done, the Three Lions were forced to make do with a share of the spoils, owing to a disappointing goalless stalemate.

The aforementioned Bellingham featured from the off in Boston, and was named Man of the Match following the full-time whistle.

As alluded to above, though, the 22-year-old is of the opinion that this accolade was not fully earned.

Speaking to the media in the aftermath of England’s latest outing on Tuesday, Bellingham admitted:

“I didn’t deserve the Man of the Match award. In my view, it should have gone to a Ghana player.”
