Real Madrid star David Alaba has been informed by the club’s board that he will not be depended on for the 2026/27 campaign.
This comes for a whole host of reasons.
Chief amongst them is the fact that Alaba’s contract terms in Spain’s capital are due to expire next summer.
In addition, the Austrian’s long-term injury woes, and hit-and-miss form when fit, have made him an expendable member of Xabi Alonso’s squad.
As per a report from Fichajes, in turn:
‘David Alaba has begun the countdown to his departure from Real Madrid, a decision the club has already communicated to both the player and Xabi Alonso.’
As things stand, the Middle East is considered the most likely landing spot for 33-year-old Alaba.
In fact, several clubs from the Saudi Pro League are already understood to have gone as far as to put big-money proposals on the table of the former Bayern Munich man and his entourage.
