Real Madrid star handed special ‘Pedri’ role for Barcelona clash

Real Madrid star Eduardo Camavinga has been assigned a specific task for today’s showdown with Barcelona.

This comes amid confirmation that the Frenchman will be expected to keep tabs on Blaugrana standout Pedri over the course of the 90 minutes.

The season’s first El Clásico is of course primed to play out in short order.

As much will see table-topping Real Madrid play host to a Barca side sitting two points back in the La Liga table.

Xabi Alonso opted to introduce a couple of changes to his starting XI for the evening, the most notable of which has seen Eduardo Camavinga step back into a starting role.

And this call, it has since been revealed, comes with a very specific goal in mind.

As per a report from Marca, Camavinga will be on ‘Pedri stopping’ duty at the Santiago Bernabéu.

With the latter having spent the early months of the campaign establishing himself as arguably the standout midfielder in world football, the Real Madrid coaching staff are understandably keen to keep his impact to a minimum.

Camavinga, boasting elite physical and ball-winning capabilities, will in turn be the player tasked with keeping tabs on Pedri for the evening.
