Real Madrid star Raúl Asencio has provided an insight into the meaning behind his goal celebration on Sunday.
Defender Asencio is for his part fresh off an outing to remember this evening.
Afforded a starting berth in Real Madrid’s La Liga meeting with Real Betis, the 22-year-old played his part in an eventual 5-1 triumph.
Not only that, but Asencio managed to find the net, his very first goal in senior football.
After nodding home from a Rodrygo corner, the stopper wheeled away towards the corner flag, before unveiling a passion-filled celebration.
And in the game’s aftermath, Asencio provided an insight into the reasoning behind as much.
Speaking to the media following the full-time whistle at the Bernabéu, the Spaniard explained:
“There’s a boy who came to the match today, his name is Elías, he has leukemia, and I dedicated my goal to him. He’s my lucky charm, and we’ll have to invite him many more times.”
