Real Madrid star Thibaut Courtois has revealed his take that it is all but inevitable that he and his teammates will be drawn against Manchester City in the next round of the Champions League.
This of course comes fresh off Los Blancos booking their spot in the competition’s Last-16.
Álvaro Arbeloa’s troops were back in action on Wednesday night, welcoming Portuguese heavyweights Benfica to Spain’s capital for a 2nd-leg playoff clash.
When all was said and done, Real Madrid emerged 2-1 victors, to keep alive their pursuit of European glory.
The most successful club in Champions League history are now aware that they will face either Sporting CP or the aforementioned Manchester City in the knockout rounds.
And as alluded to above, already convinced that it will be the latter drawn against his side on Friday is Real Madrid no.1 Thibaut Courtois.
Speaking to the media in the aftermath of Wednesday’s clash, shot-stopper Courtois predicted Los Blancos’ recent rivalry with Pep Guardiola’s Man City to be reignited over the weeks ahead:
“We all know it will be Man City on Friday at the draw! Everyone knows that…”
