A head-turning statistic, highlighting the excellence produced by Real Madrid star Arda Güler during the club’s season opener, has come to the fore online.
Los Blancos were of course back in action on Saturday night. Kicking their 2026/27 La Liga campaign into gear under the watch of new head coach José Mourinho, Real made the trip to Catalunya to lock horns with Espanyol.
When all was said and done, the visitors emerged on the right side of a hard-fought 2-1 result. After Jude Bellingham’s early opener was cancelled out, Carlos Espí proved himself the hero, emerging from the bench to net a last-gasp winner.
And yet, whilst it was summer signing Espí who took the bulk of the plaudits post-match, it was the aforementioned Arda Güler who was in fact the standout player on the pitch for much of the 90 minutes.
From his berth in midfield, the young Turk provided a much-needed spark of creativity and flair otherwise sorely lacking from Real Madrid’s play.
And as alluded to above, these endeavours have since given rise to an altogether noteworthy statistic. As revealed by ‘StatMuse’ on ‘X’:
Arda, in just 63 minutes of play, became the ‘first player to create more than 5 chances in a game this season in Europe’s Top 5 leagues’.
