Real Madrid star breaks historic goalscoring drought vs Man City

Real Madrid star Rodrygo has on Wednesday at long last broken his history-making drought in front of goal.

This comes after the Brazilian found the net in Los Blancos’ showdown with Manchester City.

Xabi Alonso’s troops are of course currently locked in action on the continent, in a Champions League showdown with Pep Guardiola’s Man City.

Real Madrid headed into the matchup nothing short of desperate for a bounce-back result, fresh off a damaging 2-0 defeat at the hands of Celta Vigo this past weekend.

And as things stand, a return to winning ways is precisely what the capital giants are headed towards.

And it is that man Rodrygo who currently stands as difference-maker when it comes to the scoreline.

Slipped in down the right wing by Jude Bellingham, the 24-year-old did superbly to surge forward before picking out the far corner with aplomb.

And as alluded to above, in the process, Rodrygo broke an unwanted personal streak.

After going 32 consecutive games without a goal – an all-time record for a Real Madrid attacker – the South American has officially ended his drought.

*Update* – Man City have since levelled things up through Nico O’Reilly.
